Selected Project Experience

Project Description:
I played multiple roles during the few years that i was at City Power. These being: I was a vital resource within a project mandated by the MD of City Power to collect outstanding revenues. The project entailed setting up a function within the business that involved receiving, scheduling, and dispatching City Power staff in various roles to collect revenues owing to City Power. Through careful coordination, planning, and implementation, the project had realised R243 million in collected revenue within one month for City Power. I was the head of the CAPEX workstream, where I had assisted with redesigning how smart meters are being received, recorded, and programmed in the City Power meter-reading database. Through this initiative and management of the five various stakeholders, City Power had realised reduced levels of stock-outs of +-30% due to accurate information on the availability of meters and an increase in meter readings by +-40%, resulting in increased revenue collections for City Power and City Johannesburg.

Project Description:
I was the lead in the AIM region for a global EY solution called the EY Virtual Advisor. The role entailed planning, managing, and implementing a first-of-its-kind product for the consulting industry and EY. I had worked with stakeholders such as legal, risk, branding, marketing & communications, various account leads within the firm, global EY leaders, and operations teams to workshop multiple ways the solution may be implemented and what the go-to-market strategy should be. I was also an essential resource in developing a revenue pipeline for the product and formed strategic relationships with key customers, which would generate annuity income until 2023. I was also involved in various content development and review to ensure congruence to our African markets.

Project Description:
I had been the lead specialist on a project to collect revenue for GWCL. I designed an approach that GWCL had followed to ensure accurate and timely revenue collections in this role. There were two main stakeholders, in this instance, being the Ghanaian government and GWCL. The approach designed by me, which involved all functions and divisions at GWCL, was later followed throughout GWCL's business (in the various regions), which resulted in an overall increase in 15% in the collection of revenues and better management around the scheduling, receiving and dispatching and recording of revenues.

Project Description:
On this engagement, I was the Finance Process Stream lead. The magnitude of this engagement was such that it was the largest revenue-generating engagement in the AIM region for EY at the time and one of the largest engagements EY globally had worked on in the shared services space. The engagement entailed Transnet consolidating the core functions of their business into a shared services centre. I was involved in streamlining the process, stakeholder management, and mapping new processes after conducting various business analyses and intelligence within Transnet's many business units. Furthermore, I was involved in tabling suggestions towards the shared service center's operations, which improved operating capacity by +-25% and realised a total cost saving of +-R2,5m per month.
