Renoir Consulting is a UK based niche consulting firm focusing on Operational Excellence. I joined the firm as a Project Manager in 2010. I handled various assignments in varied sectors such as Discrete Manufacturing, Auto Ancillary, Chemicals and Fertilizers, Metals and Mining, Pharmaceuticals, Footwear and FMCG amongst others. The assignments were generally in two categories: - improve productivity either man or machine and; - improve sales growth Some of the notable assignments that I lead were a) Improvement in throughput for a 2Wheeler Tyre Manufacturer in India from 3000 tyres per day to 11000 tyres per day and reduction in quality defects from 20000PPM to 7500 PPM b) Revamp the sales strategy for the after market sales for a large truck Tyre Manufacturer; also redesigned the supply chain network to make the sales strategy very effective c) Improve the OEE for a diesel engine manufacturer in India from 52% to 61% d) Designed and implemented an Industry 4.0 solution to reduce machine downtimes by 19% and improve quality of the product from 10000 PPM to 8500 PPM for a large Gear Box Manufacturer in India e) Designed and implemented a services strategy for one of largest steel manufacturer's in the world based in India. The implementation resulted in savings of Rs 300 Cr per annum f) Designed and implemented a cost savings initiative for a large steel company in India resulting in cost savings of Rs 88 Cr against a targeted savings of Rs 100 Cr over a period of 10 months g) Designed and implemented an Industry 4.0 solution to reduce machine downtime by 11% for one of the largest Spice Manufacturer in India h) Designed and implemented an operational excellence program for the second largest footwear manufacturer in India. The average Pairs Per Man Day (PPMD) across 9 sites improved from 43.2 to 51.6, which resulted in improved throughput I lead a team of 3 to 4 consultants from my organization and about 6 to 7 persons from the client organization. The reason for having the people from client organization was to ensure that the changes that we leave behind are taken forward by the client. I headed the organization's operations in India from March 2015 to February 2018. During this period, my team and I added 12 new clients from whom we got an additional business of Rs 23 Cr; my team and I also also acquired repeat business from existing clients worth Rs 10 Cr.

Selected Project Experience

Project Description:

The assignments were to improve the machine and manpower productivity. I implemented Lean, Total Productivity Maintenance (TPM) and Drum Buffer Rope (DBR) solution from Theory of Constraints to improve throughput by improving machine uptime by reducing maintenance downtime and operational downtime and by improving production scheduling at the plants. I have also implemented manpower productivity at these plant sites using Activity Listing, Span of Control and Man Loading techniques.
