WHAT YOU'LL DO

Climate & Sustainability (C&S) is a new functional Practice Area (PA) within BCG and one of its two “CEO Moonshots”. The firm’s leadership has made this new business area a priority for growth, focused on delivering impact and accelerating the path to a Net Zero world. As a part of the C&S Global Leadership team, you have the unique opportunity to set the strategic direction of our marketing, communication and SATT portfolio and build and lead a high-performing C&S Marketing team (currently 4 FTE).

At this early stage in the C&S Practice Area’s life cyle, the Global Marketing Senior Director will play a critically important leadership role across all core marketing & communication domains, including strategy, content, partnerships, people and operations. Given the strong activity levels in the C&S space both within and outside of the Practice Area, across global marketing, regional and local teams and functions, the ideal candidate will be able to influence and drive the direction-setting in C&S both within their immediate remit in the Practice, as well as by collaborating closely and successfully with adjacent stakeholders outside of the PA.

We are looking for a leader with a passion for helping BCG achieve its ambitious impact goals and a strong desire to be involved in building a new practice. The ideal candidate will come with significant transferable experience in building and scaling new marketing and communication businesses, preferably in a professional services environment.

A strong interest in Climate and Sustainability is required – existing subject matter expertise is strongly preferred.

Key responsibilities include

Strategy: In collaboration with the C&S Global Leadership Team, set strategic & annual plan. Drive innovation and experimentation. Set marketing budget and collaborate with adjacent parties on cross-funded initiatives. Act as the LT representative vis à vis senior BCG stakeholders and leaders (C&S does not have a Marketing MDP). Contribute to BCG’s strategic activities in the “Impact” domain.

Success metrics & comp intel: Set metrics and measure impact/ROMI, with clear feedback loops to action. Ensure visibility on competitors’ activities and activate LT as needed on necessary “counter-action”.

People: Recruit, build and lead a high performing C&S Marketing team

Branding and positioning: Evolve and further strengthen our market-leading positioning, incl. value proposition, differentiators, branding guidelines, and brand perception studies. Advise teams across BCG on branding for their activations on C&S topics. Bring the “PA DNA” and our C&S convictions to life with external and internal audiences.

Content creation and amplification: Conceptualize and lead marketing acceleration programs and campaigns for our most important C&S topics. Drive the creation of commercial, thought leadership, and expert content for overarching narratives in various channels. Shape and amplify the cross-practice C&S content portfolio and own/co-own dedicated marketing channels, partnerships, and activations. Ensure we build a portfolio of compelling client impact stories for marketing use. Advise and support PA, local and Offer teams as well as other parts of BCG on C&S-related marketing activations.

Flagship SATT and event activations: Collaborate closely with global and local teams to ensure best-in-class planning and delivery of C&S-related SATT activities and events to position BCG topics and spokespeople and increase commercial traction in collaboration with cross-practice marketing, the global events and external relations teams.

C&S alignment: Drive stronger alignment and integration of marketing programs and teams across BCG, including practice areas and BCG’s marketing function. Create engagement and collaboration in the community of marketers. Orchestrate support for the regional marketing needs, including the C&S Virtual Systems.

ONEMarketing: Contribute to broader innovation and evolution of BCG marketing
