WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Topic / Sector Senior Manager within Financial Institutions Practice Area (FIPA), you will work closely with Topic / Sector and PA leadership to support and run the Payments & Fintechs business with a strong focus on the commercial agenda. You will be sought as a thought partner, supporting leadership in setting the strategic agenda and defining implementation activities for the business while also engaging and driving sector content development initiatives. Other tasks include business analysis and planning, staffing support, lead organization, internal communication, marketing and Seat At The Table and affiliation activities.

Payments & Fintechs is one of 3 sectors within FIPA (alongside Banks and Global Asset Managers). This sector is one of the most innovative in the practice, with numerous new players and cutting edge topics (e.g. Crypto)

Very specifically you will : Manage the sector routine

Organize and manage internal leadership calls: establish agendas, prepare materials, share notes and ensure follow ups are acted upon

Support the sector leader and leadership team in the ongoing management of the sector, according to the commercial priorities

Independently drive specific business priorities

Business analysis and planning

Handle customized financials and reportings

Drive the annual planning exercise for the sector in coordination with the global practice

Commercial plan and client monitoring

Monitor the pipeline and sold cases, leveraging the new Client View tool

Monitor the client portfolio, consolidate plans and initiatives as necessary (e.g. client campaigns)

People plan: facilitate the implementation of the people plan (e.g. ECT recruiting, ring fencing, mobility), working closely with HR, the regions and ABMs Affiliation and internal communications

Identify and manage the list of affiliates across cohorts and components of the ONE BCG team

Organize and develop agendas for sector events (e.g. Townhalls, affiliation meetings), support sector breakouts during global and regional FI events

Manage LAB trainings and FIPA.Academy sessions for the sector

Own sector internal communication platforms (e.g. Slack channel, distribution list, newsletter)

External marketing

Contribute to the organization of sector client events in coordination with the practice and local marketing teams

Support the marketing process for sector thought leadership (e.g. publication launch, social media campaign) and SATT

Provide input to marketing regarding sector content on BCG.com

Own and monitor sector budget (cash and Tier 1), in coordination with the global practice Work closely with KT and BCG X teams to align sector priorities, exchange on content and client activities, support onboard new members Coordinate with global FI practice to cascade practice agenda and priorities to sector Drive specific global initiatives, e.g. regarding the strategy of the practice

YOU'RE GOOD AT

Self-starting with a strong worth ethic, entrepreneurial drive to work autonomously and in a multinational team

Earning the respect of a very senior cohort, all Managing Directors, that are remotely located, juggling the various priorities and viewpoints of the Leadership Team members, showing influence to compile inputs and opinions from the Leadership Team members, while still meeting demanding deadlines

Complex project management with the ability to multi-task and drive advanced strategic analysis (beyond data) and leverage results for impact

Working closely with the Knowledge Team to align regional and topic / sector priorities; exchange on content and client activities and help drive broader KT network and product / service portfolio, supporting knowledge management and knowledge curation

Executing budget monitoring; managing the advancement and commercialization of the topic / sector, supporting road shows or client events where necessary; tracking impact

Leading others, including senior business leaders in clarifying problems and developing solutions by building cross-topic/sector partnerships - building consensus, persuading and influencing.

Motivating others to deliver highest standards, providing direction, mentoring and coaching.

Supporting business development initiatives, including priority proposals and selling materials, in partnership with ECT and KT team

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

8-10 years of relevant experience

Master’s degree preferred

Role related certifications preferred

Ability to manage and drive area of accountabilities, contributing to higher level agenda setting

Ability to lead more complex, broader sub functional teams or projects fully independently and provide direction to others

Ability to resolve complex issues and non-defined problems autonomously, with full business acumen

Strong interpersonal skills, credibility

Ability to influence senior members of the topic / sector and beyond

Ability to respect sensitive client, BCG, and people related information as personal and confidential

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Advanced knowledge in Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel

YOU'LL WORK WITH

You will work with the Regional Practice Area Leaders and their leadership teams when setting the strategic agenda and driving implementation. For additional tasks, you will collaborate with the Practice Area Coordinators, Sector / Topic Managers, HR and Marketing within the PA. Further interfaces exist with other Regional Managers as well as global and regional BCG functions and teams as needed

Practice Area Management & Operations team members keep BCG’s industry and functional practice areas operating responsively and efficiently. As a member of this team, you will contribute directly to the success of our business through a number of roles, including content development, process management, marketing, meeting and conference management, and internal/external communications.
