Alexei Evgenev is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal in Dubai. He is responsible for the Eurasia region, which includes CIS countries. Mr. Evgenev specializes in corporate restructuring and large-scale business management and has extensive experience leading projects across a range of industries, including retail, banking, metals and mining, engineering, and heavy machinery manufacturing.
Mr. Evgenev’s recent engagements include assisting a leading global pulp and paper company in disposing of its Russian assets. He set up and ran a joint venture with the leading Eastern European bank for distressed real estate management, with $1+ billion under management and restructuring and financial control of the largest independent oil refining business in CIS.

Mr. Evgenev served as an interim head of restructuring for a leading Russian bank, where he managed a distressed portfolio worth over $4 billion. He was also interim CEO of several retail businesses.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Evgenev was the head of M&A at Sberbank-Capital, a specialized workout unit of Russia’s largest bank. Previously, Mr. Evgenev served as CEO of Energoprom group, global electrode and cathode supplier for electric steelmaking and aluminum smelting.

Prior to that, Mr. Evgenev served as a CEO of Severstalmash, a machine-building and industrial services subsidiary of Severstal group. He started his career with McKinsey & Company in Moscow, working primarily with metals and mining industries in Russia, Finland, Germany and South Africa.

Mr. Evgenev earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the City University of New Yorkk and an MBA from Columbia Business School. He is fluent in Russian and English.
