Bio

Bill Ozturk is a Senior Director at Alvarez & Marsal in Dubai. He applies his more than 15 years of consulting, industry, and entrepreneurial experience to help corporates implement cash cultures and guide them through complex turnaround and restructuring programs.
Mr. Ozturk has held leadership and management roles in industry across the Middle East, Asia Pacific, sub-Saharan Africa and emerging markets. He brings a highly commercial and pragmatic approach to stressed and distressed situations that need energy and momentum to drive stability and consensus to preserve and maximize value for lenders, boards and management teams.

Mr. Ozturk’s recent notable engagements include advising a lender on a rapid turnaround options assessment of a UAE-based university. He led the cash and liquidity function for a large distressed large Middle East foreign exchange and money remittance business, helping to preserve value and develop restructuring options. Mr. Ozturk also worked with a Gulf Cooperation Council sovereign fund to identify and quantify a funding gap of ~$250 million, finding actionable measures to reduce y-o-y opex by 20 percent and project budget by 60 percent while protecting the fund’s mandate.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Ozturk served as an interim General Manager for an underperforming concrete admixtures business in Japan, successfully leading a turnaround, enhancing the business model and building a longer-term management team. Previously, he was the head of finance for the Africa and Developing & Emerging Markets operations of a multinational construction chemicals and building materials manufacturer.

Mr. Ozturk also cofounded a venture capital fund that continues in its mission to improve a billion lives over the next decade. He has a passion for sharing knowledge and experiences through mentoring young entrepreneurs and small-to-medium-enterprise business owners, especially founder operators in developing markets.

Mr. Ozturk earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of New South Wales, Australia and completed the executive program at Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Starline Foundation, whose mission is to sustainably bring affordable housing solutions to Cameroon.
