Tom Howitt is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Strategy and Performance Improvement in Abu Dhabi. He specializes in business review and value creation planning engagements across a variety of industries, including construction, industrials, healthcare, consumer business, retail and real estate.
Mr. Howitt leads teams to perform in-depth financial, operational and commercial planning across independent business reviews, business planning and strategic options analysis. He drives the implementation of these plans through the establishment of a dedicated transformation office.
Most recently, Mr. Howitt assisted a Middle East sovereign wealth fund with various start-up activities during its establishment period. As part of the investment team, he supported in various investment/portfolio management activities. These included onboarding and early communication with the portfolio companies; supporting the development of plans/strategies for various companies; and supporting with investment decision-making.
Additionally, Mr. Howitt’s notable engagements include leading: a project team performing a business diagnostic for a large, listed UAE based cement company; a team to analyze the investment options for a partially listed and KSA SWF owned cement manufacturing group; and a project team performing an in-depth review of the head office support services function for a large international professional services firm.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Howitt spent more than 14 years with Deloitte, where he most recently served as Director with the firm’s Financial Advisory division. Before that, he served with Deloitte’s U.K. business.
Mr. Howitt earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from Leeds University Business School. He is a chartered accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales.
