Wajih Abou-Zahr, based in Dubai, has more than 10 years of experience serving major players in the technology, media, and telecommunications sectors in strategy, marketing, sourcing, and operations. Wajih has deep expertise in supporting clients to strengthen their sourcing and operations functions. Examples of his recent work include working with a global telecommunications group to transform its end-to-end supply-chain function, saving more than $500 million. He also helped transform operations at a customer-contact centre by implementing a lean management system, which improved customer satisfaction and reduced costs by 25 percent. Wajih works extensively with major telecoms operators, helping them manage network capital and operational-expense spend. He has consistently helped operators reduce costs, by more than 15 percent, using procurement levers and innovative solutions. In the strategy and marketing segment, Wajih helped a mobile company boost its top-line growth through an integrated program comprising commercial levers, including pricing, customer-lifecycle management, distribution and marketing communications. He supported a large mobile group, with assets across 15 countries, in setting and tracking its operational performance indicators. He developed a commercial strategy for the company, helping it gain disproportionate market share in the fast-growing data and broadband spaces. Wajih is fluent in English and Arabic. Prior to joining McKinsey, Wajih worked for more than 5 years across Europe and the Middle East in consulting and technology roles, predominantly in the telecommunications industry.
