Corporate Transformation Services (CTS)

Our highly respected Corporate Transformation Services (CTS) team is built on deep industry sector expertise with a demonstrably differentiated ability to address the most complex business problems and deliver dramatic and sustainable business performance improvements. Focused on enterprise-wide change to help drive EBITDA and/or cash improvement, our highly experienced experts successfully work with clients in strategic transformation situations, for example, where an activist investor is looking for accelerated results, or where a company is looking to sustainably improve their earnings and profitability. We help our clients navigate complex merger integrations and carve-outs and work for corporations across several industries

Software & Business Services

Our highly respected pan EMEA Software & Business Services team is a fast-growing part of our CTS team. It is built on deep industry sector expertise with a differentiated ability to address complex business problems and deliver material and sustainable improvements. The Software team brings unrivaled experience from both industry and advisory roles.

The Role

We typically consider two types of clients: software product businesses; and non-software clients who are building an internal software-based solution, often as part of a digital transformation. We are looking for people who have experience in an engineering or technical operations capacity, or who have held a senior role in running a software business.

The individual should be able to carry out an assessment around key areas: the roadmap of product features / functionality, non-functional requirements and technical debt; the appropriateness of the architecture; intellectual property and open source; engineering organization in terms of its scalability and delivery capability; the effectiveness of the operating model, including all the supporting technical functions as well as the software development lifecycle; the link to both customer and engineering data; the use of JIRA and other similar tools, Agile; and hosting/cloud infrastructure.

Technical Competencies and Experience

Typically, successful appointees will be based in the UK with the ability to work Europe wide. You will have 10-15 years of relevant experience in a blend of industry and professional services. The latter will include conducting performance improvement engagements. Additionally, you will need to be able to demonstrate you can:

Actively participate in key target and client interactions, including interviews, interim updates, final readouts and any follow-ups. Develop and manage data reporting – including interrogating client systems Summarize key insights into client-ready deliverables. Ensure the quality of deliverables and effectively manage the day-to-day relationships. Supervise and mentor junior staff Diagnose and redesign operating models of software development companies Manage the transformation of the Software Engineering organisation: Target Operating Model for all Software Engineering functions and supporting activities Processes and tools KPI’s / OKR’s Provide leadership and coach the client through major change, potentially taking interim engineering leadership roles Candidate Background

10-15 years of professional consulting or relevant industry/operator experience, with a minimum of 5 years consulting to the tech industry Exemplary communication skills, both oral and written, including proven ability to produce executive-level, client-ready written communication materials, including interim updates and final deliverables. Excellent fact-gathering and investigation skills, including quantitative and qualitative analysis. Desired - Previous software / product experience in a software organization Extensive experience in Agile methodologies and its practical application across large scale, distributed Software Product organisations Knowledge of tools to support/automate Agile processes as well as test and continuous deployment of software products Background / understanding of key architectural principles in modern software design, e.g., micro-services-based platforms, service mesh, cloud-native, serverless, etc. Desirable – understanding of cyber security concepts for software development organisation and how to best implement security-by-design as part of the DevOps process Soft Skills
