Our private equity performance improvement “PEPI” practice:

Alvarez and Marsal’s dedicated PEPI professionals work with Investors and their portfolio companies to provide independent analysis and end to end services across the investment life cycle that deliver results in every economic cycle.

Whether serving in a performance improvement advisory capacity for an under-performing company or in interim management roles, we draw on a deep operational heritage and proven approaches, such as our proprietary diagnostic – the Rapid Results Program, which helps to quickly and effectively assess business process management risks and identify key areas impeding performance.

Through our PEPI practice, Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) offers assistance to private equity owned portfolio companies that are under-performing or with a need of re-organization and re-positioning. Working directly with company management, A&M's involvement reassures all stakeholders that the company is taking important steps to address its problems and maximize its value.

Our Senior/Managing Director role:

A&M's global Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) practice are now at point in our exciting growth story where we need a Managing Director (MD) or Senior Director (SD) to focus on Health and Life Sciences (HLS). We are looking to hire someone who has a successful track record with a blend of operational and commercial skills, an entrepreneurial approach and networks across the M&A community.

A&M seamlessly draws upon the expertise of global, integrated teams of functional and industry professionals to meet clients’ needs. In addition to aligning these core offerings, PEPI partner a lot on client projects with our colleagues across the practice such as Corporate Transformation, Restructuring, Transactions Advisory & Valuations. As such, we have a wide reach of resource from a broad range of sectors who we work with across the various teams and geographies in our business. This collaboration model and (senior) resource depth is one of the unique qualities that makes us A&M and allow us to take on a wide range of complex situations.

We have local teams and resource globally and specifically within European across our UK, Germany, France, Italy, Sweden and Netherlands practices, to name a few. A key objective therefore for our new Managing/Senior Director will be to collaborate, integrate and partner with all our PEPI related colleagues and mandates– across the four pillars, A&M geographic offices and other A&M service lines.

The new Managing/Senior Director will demonstrate strong abilities in the identification, direction and optimization of great talent. The successful appointee will work with our established team and build the profile and reputation of the Firm in the Performance Improvement space with a route to market directly into boardrooms. Building on the success of the A&M brand, the successful candidate will bring proven leadership experience from both operational and advisory roles across multiple sub sectors in Health and Life Sciences ranging from Care Homes to Biopharma as well as a strong network of high-level contacts.

The preferred candidate will develop and execute a specific strategy focused on target clients and distinctive go-to-market propositions. Specifically, the MD/SD will be:

Achieving scale across the European PEPI business through executing the vision and direction for the continuing build out of the PEPI team, across the wider European practice, including: helping to build and leading the practice; attracting, hiring and developing a group of experienced professionals to drive growth as well as quickly assimilating and leveraging existing capability at A&M; Building a robust yet flexible plan to generate deal flow and developing sustainable business, externally and internally. Coordinating with our Global A&M PEPI team and broader A&M service lines on developing our growing service offerings e.g. Transactions Advisory, Valuations, Performance Improvement and Restructuring; Growing our practice, broadening out our routes to market, leveraging senior relationships and working with our European partnership group; Leading delivery of projects with private equity owned businesses to assess opportunities to improve their financial /operating performance and implement findings and recommendations; Working on Operational due diligence (ODD), 100-day planning, post-merger integration and performance improvement; Initialing rapid diagnostic into a company's immediate and future major operational issues, product profitability, cost base, manufacturing processes and options for performance improvement; Leading the post-acquisition work to ensure that the ODD was realized in full and in the shortest possible time; Contributing strongly to business development activity including developing successful pitches and selling, on from the initial “diagnostic” project phase into implementation work; Work with private equity owned clients through the full spectrum of complex issues that arise in operations Advising and implementation with PE firms to ensure their portfolio companies have credible performance improvement programs and the ability to execute and deliver the financial results required (across a wide range of industry sectors); Providing change leadership & management support for leadership teams, and businesses more broadly, to successfully adopt and embed new technologies and ways of working.
